Recreational Use
In Australia, New Zealand, and Africa, recreational marijuana use is outlawed. In 2016, Australia became the first country in the world to allow medical marijuana. The country decriminalised and acknowledged cannabis as a part of the Australian culture.
Ever since the 1970s Cannabis has been widely consumed by Australians recreationally, typically used by by many from average workers to High School youths while being frowned upon by the upper class even though it is helping thousands medicinally.
A study conducted in late 2021 shows that in Australia, over 30% of the population believes that cannabis should be legalised. Teenagers between the ages of 14 and 17 were the least likely to support legalisation (just 21 percent of that age group), and those between the ages of 18 and 24 were the most likely to support it (36 percent of that age group).
